Saint Drill & Burlace Drill

Have always used the mascot of the team coaching. This is an over the shoulder drill, each player gets 2 over the shoulder catches per rep. It is a lot of running and it is again, get ball in stick, get ball out of stick, throw it again.

Notes & Diagrams

Setup:

  • You can do this across the field, sideline to sideline
  • Or you can do restraining line to restraining line
  • Lines on same side of field are between 15 to 20 yards apart.
  • Balls with all lines with players
  • Depending on age you can use coaches, goalies, or your best stick handlers as “goalie/coach” spot

Drill:

  • Go to line you throw to
  • Run the entire time
  • Call for the ball
  • Run the entire time

Issues:

  • Guys running with ball will want to throw to line in front of them vs. the line across from them.
  • It is the responsibility of the guys standing still to communicate where the ball is to be thrown.
  • Be a good teammate and support your teammate.

Adjustments:

  • Right to Right
  • Left to Left
  • Goalie/Coach rolls ball back
  • After catching from Goalie/Coach player can shoot the ball: need a lot of balls
  • After catching from Goalie/Coach player throws ball to opposite line; use same ball over and over.
