Weave & Straight Line Drills

These are full field running and throwing drills, more open field skills. Very good end of practice disguised running.

Weave Drill Notes

Setup:

  • Start players at (1) Rydo line endline, (2‐3) restraining line and endline, at one end of field
  • Balls must be in and start in the middle line

Drill:

  • While running forward, middle line throws to one side or the other
  • Whichever line you throw to you must then run behind.
  • Catchers run toward Rydo line and throw to opposite way ball came to them
  • Repeat all the way down the field to far endline

Issues:

  • Players will get very close to one another
  • Missed passes and getting ball back to continue pattern
  • Make each player get wider than the restraining lines; put up cones if you must
  • They will slow down to a jog

Adjustments:

  • Do they shoot at the far end?
  • Endline to Endline or GLE to GLE
  • How many passes can you make
